Process
How We Build Our Garden Rooms
A garden room is a construction project, and it should feel like one: a clear sequence, agreed in advance, with no ambiguity about what happens when.
- 01
Consultation
We talk through how you want to use the room, the space you have, rough sizes and budget expectations before anyone visits.
- 02
Site Survey
A visit to measure the garden, record levels, check access, look at ground conditions and identify where services can run.
- 03
Design
Position, footprint, roof profile, glazing and door arrangement are developed around your brief and the survey findings.
- 04
Specification
Cladding, insulation, glazing, electrics, heating, flooring and internal finishes are confirmed component by component.
- 05
Quotation
An itemised written quotation showing what is included and what each option would add.
- 06
Ground Preparation
Clearing the area, setting out, establishing levels and dealing with drainage or obstructions.
- 07
Foundations
Ground screws or a concrete base, chosen for the conditions recorded at survey and installed to level.
- 08
Structural Construction
The timber frame is erected, squared and fixed, with openings formed for windows and doors.
- 09
Insulation
Floor, wall and roof insulation installed as a continuous, detailed envelope.
- 10
Roofing & Weatherproofing
Roof build-up completed, membrane laid, edge detailing and guttering installed so the building is watertight.
- 11
Windows & Doors
Glazed units and doors fitted, sealed and adjusted for smooth operation.
- 12
Cladding
External cladding installed with the fixings and detailing appropriate to the material and exposure.
- 13
Electrical Work
First fix cabling followed by second fix: consumer unit, sockets, lighting, external lighting and data.
- 14
Interior Finishing
Wall linings, decoration, flooring, skirting and any joinery installed.
- 15
Final Inspection
A full check of the building, its finishes, door operation and the electrical installation.
- 16
Handover
We walk you through the finished room, explain maintenance, and leave the site clean and clear.
Stage timings depend on the size of the building, the foundation type, ground conditions, weather and access. Your quotation includes an expected build window for your project. Read more about the specification behind each stage or the design process.
